Job Description Salary: $16.00-$17.53 Position Summary The Early Childhood Specialist Floater provides classroom and instructional support across multiple classrooms in all three BRCA Childcare Centers: Northside Childrens Learning Center (Lenoir), Circle of Friends Child Development Center (Rutherford College), and Quaker Meadows Generations Center (Morganton)
Serving children from birth to age five. This position ensures continuity of care and learning by filling in during staff absences, assisting teachers, and maintaining compliance with all program standards. The Floater adapts quickly to different age groups, classrooms, and center environments while creating nurturing, developmentally appropriate experiences for children and supporting families in line with Blue Ridge Community Actions mission.
Specific Job Duties Implement and support curriculum plans with activities appropriate to the age and ability level of assigned groups. Provide classroom support as needed across Northside (Lenoir), Circle of Friends (Rutherford College), and Quaker Meadows Generations (Morganton) childcare centers. Maintain compliance with NC Day Care licensing regulations (ITERS/ECERS), sanitation requirements, Head Start Performance Standards, DPI standards, NCPK regulations, CACFP regulations, and BRCA policies. Observe, document, and report significant behavior changes or health needs to the supervisor. Maintain confidentiality of childrens and parents needs, progress, and records. Record attendance accurately, noting reasons for absences. Provide developmentally appropriate environments with positive teacher/child interactions. Support anecdotal notes and/or weekly input of notes in CC Net. Complete all agency-required training. Maintain open and positive communication with parents when present in the classroom. Support IEP/IFSP goals by providing appropriate activities and implementing strategies for children with diagnosed disabilities. Assist with monthly activity planning and implementation. Complete screenings, educational assessments, and other child development documentation as required. Assist with follow-up on irregular attendance, including home visits and documentation. Adapt to flexible scheduling and accept alternate assignments from the supervisor. Assist with staff training and professional development when requested. Support agency goals, including maintaining 85% ADA. Participate in required home visits and make referrals based on family needs. Maintain and submit accurate records and paperwork.
Education Preferred: AA or BA degree in Early Childhood Education Accepted: Completion of EDU 119 and possession of an NC Qualifying Letter
Experience Minimum of one (1) year verifiable daycare experience with children, birth5 years old
Skills & Abilities Ability to adapt quickly to different classrooms, age groups, and center routines Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Other Requirements Ability to work as part of a collaborative team Ability to relate well to a diverse population Must pass a criminal background record check and substance abuse tests
