Position
Data Warehouse Analyst, Utah Data Coordinating Center (DCC)
This position supports large-scale health data infrastructure for clinical research and national partners. The role designs, develops, and maintains business intelligence solutions, including reports, dashboards, and data visualizations. The selected candidate should reside in the Salt Lake City area or be willing to relocate. Positions offer growth and a defined career ladder. Responsibilities
- Data Analysis and Requirements Gathering: Analyze business requirements, understand data sources, and translate them into technical specifications for BI solutions.
- Data Modeling and Warehousing: Design and develop data models, data warehouses, and ETL processes to ensure data quality, accessibility, and scalability.
- Dashboard and Report Development: Create interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations using tools like Power BI, Tableau, Python or Looker.
- Data Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL): Automate extracting data from sources, transforming it, and loading into the data warehouse or reporting tools.
- Performance Optimization and Troubleshooting: Optimize BI system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure data/report reliability.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with Data Architects, Software engineers and various teams to gather requirements and ensure BI solutions meet business needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor’s degree in area of specialty or equivalency and 2-4 years of related experience. Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
Preferences
- Proficient in SQL
- Familiarity with AWS (Glue, S3, EC2)
- Development experience with Python (Pandas, Boto3, PySpark)
- Understanding of ETL processes and tools
- Experience with version control systems (Git)
- Ability to read/understand Java is a plus
- Experience using Jenkins
- Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, SSRS, Power BI)
- Background in data warehouse design (Star/Snowflake Schema)
- In-depth understanding of database management systems, OLAP and ETL frameworks
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and innovative thinking skills
- Strong ability to explain advanced data concepts to developers and non-technical end users
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and balance multiple priorities within an Agile process
