Major Duties
- Serves as a senior-level accountant and will serve in the capacity as the program manager of Audit Integrations in the Defense Logistics Agency's Payroll and Travel Program Office.
- Development and monitoring of corrective action plans (CAPs) to address any identified deficiencies, with a particular focus on payroll, HR Systems, Travel, and other hire to retire business cycle requirements.
- Coordinating efforts related to audit support in the hire-to-retire process while managing the development and implementation of enterprise-wide strategies aimed at achieving full auditability of General Fund, Working Capital Fund, and Transaction Fund Financial Statements.
- Design, implement, and continuously improve internal control measures to mitigate risks associated with payroll and travel functions.
- Prepare detailed financial reconciliation reports for audit purposes, documenting any discrepancies, corrective actions, and supporting explanations.
Qualification Summary
To qualify for an Accountant, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Basic Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher in accounting or a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. Applicants MUST submit a copy of their college transcripts from an accredited educational institution which reflects that an accounting or equivalent degree was conferred and the date conferred. Failure to submit your transcripts may result in lost consideration.
B. Combination of Education and Experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. Applicants MUST submit a copy of their college transcripts from an accredited educational institution. Failure to submit your transcripts may result in lost consideration. The applicant's background must also include one of the following: a) Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality (including up to 6 hours of business law); b) A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor; or c) Completion of degree requirements with substantial coursework in accounting or auditing, with additional criteria described for equivalence.
C. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position. To qualify for GS-13, specialized experience must be at the GS-12 level or equivalent. Eligible applicants must meet time-in-grade, time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and other regulatory requirements by the announced closing date. Creditable specialized experience includes: managing end-to-end audit processes related to integration efforts; coordinating with stakeholders on audit-compliant process implementations; providing expert advisory services on audit functions. Volunteer experience is creditable as qualifying experience.
