Job Purpose
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic Accounting / Finance team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in accounting, financial reporting, and analysis, as well as a strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions, participating in the month-end close process, supporting audits, and tax filings. This role reports directly to the Director of Accounting in Chicago and will help mold the future of the North America Accounting / Finance team.
Responsibilities
- Execute the monthly general ledger close process and required reporting; ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
- Prepare complex accounting journal entries and collaborate with other departments to gather pertinent data for month-end close.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, including supporting schedules and documentation.
- Assist in the documentation of accounting processes and procedures.
- Respond to accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Prepare supporting documents and perform tasks related to the external audit.
- Partner with the Accounting / Finance Leaders to improve / implement accounting processes.
- Compile, analyze and distribute routine and ad hoc financial reports.
- Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
- Assist with special projects, such as system implementations, process improvements, and ad-hoc financial analysis.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of professional accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
- Prior experience working in a manufacturing company is preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., One Stream, Epicor preferred) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookup).
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Detail oriented and ability to work with minimal supervision.
