Overview

Health Advocates Network is currently seeking a Dental Assistant to work at a facility in Detroit, MI. These are registry positions with our company.

Pay Rate: $28 / hour

Responsibilities

  • Ensures a welcoming and well-prepared treatment room for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
  • Prepares patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping the patient.
  • Serves as a key communicator within the practice, providing information and support to patients and colleagues.
  • Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to the treatment area; positions instruments for the dentist's access; suctioning; passing instruments.
  • Provides materials by selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments and in the patients mouth.
  • Obtains diagnostic information by exposing and developing radiographs, pouring, trimming, and polishing study casts.
  • Maintains patient appearance and ability to masticate by fabricating temporary restorations and cleaning/polishing removable appliances.
  • Assists the dentist in managing dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and an emergency telephone directory.
  • Educates patients by giving oral hygiene, plaque control, and postoperative instructions.
  • Documents dental care services by charting in patient records; maintains patient confidentiality and a secure operation.
  • Upholds a safe and hygienic work environment by adhering to infection-control policies and procedures.
  • Conserves dental resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently.
  • Maintains professional knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications.
  • Supports team goals by contributing to related tasks as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Required Education: Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program OR one year of hands-on experience as a Dental Assistant.
  • Required Certifications & Licensure: CPR card; X-ray training or certification.
  • Preferred Certifications & Licensure: Registered Dental Assistant (RDA).
