nvolve patients and families in developing plans of care, coordinating the interdisciplinary plan of care and serve as a patient advocate.

rovide nursing care, administer treatments and medication and document.
P
articipate
in ongoing interdisciplinary evaluation of patient/family outcome
s and
contribute to the improvement of
care
.
D
elegate tasks/assignments, serve as a resource person, pursue ongoing education and specialty certifications,
maintain
applicable certification/
licensure
and obtain any required certifications specific to the unit.
C
omplete admission assessments of maternal and/or infant patients, inclusive of psychological,
educational
and age-specific needs of patients/families
C
ommunicate information in
a timely
fashion
regarding
changes in patient condition and patient care/unit issues
.
P
erform Unit Coordinator responsibilities as needed, serve on committees within the Department of Nursing,
participate
in nursing grand round
presentation
and
complete all electronic and paper records related to patient care
.
E
nsure JCAHO Core Measures related to nursing care are
achieved and
incorporate patient safety goals in daily practice.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate from an accredited school of
P
rofessional
N
ursing
(ADN or BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
or American Red Cross
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
or ALS certification through the American Red Cross
upon
or within one year of
hire
Completion of Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through the American Academy of Pediatrics within six months of hire
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Bachelor
s
of
S
cience in
N
ursing (BSN)
Physical Requirements: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
