Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription: Position Summary: The senior network engineer role is a critical hands-on technology leader that plans, designs and implements services enabling a consolidated infrastructure estate. To enable a shift to a virtualized and cloud enabled infrastructure, this position will engineer solutions that will enable self-service infrastructure, automate build of infrastructure (cloud and internal), and transition legacy infrastructures to modern technologies. This role will be critical in the engineering of high-performance integrated solutions and constructing an enterprise scale high performance infrastructure that supports numerous customers in the healthcare market. They will be a technical visionary and influential leader who shapes the network landscape, manage vendor engagements, and streamline operations across the organization's infrastructure footprint. Key Responsibilities: 1. Network Design and Architecture Develop and oversee enterprise service enhancement, cost reduction consolidation and migration strategy. Expert-level, often multi-domain, knowledge and establishes the standard for technical excellence for the platform. Deep understanding of intricate interactions within complex, large-scale networks and can architect solutions for them. Leads the charge in adopting and mastering new, cutting-edge technologies. Develop an infrastructure shared services model across the organization. Design and implement LAN, WAN, WLAN, SD-WAN, and VPN infrastructure across multiple facilities. Develop secure network segmentation strategies in line with HIPAA and other healthcare compliance standards. Plan network capacity upgrades for growth and emerging technologies. Evaluate and recommend cost-effective network hardware/software. Maintain detailed documentation and network diagrams. Responsible for the macro-scale architecture of network technologies, ensuring interoperability, scalability, and adherence to strategic goals. 2. Network Implementation and Configuration Leads architectural design for enterprise-wide network infrastructure. Focuses on long-term scalability, resilience, and efficiency of the overall network. Drives optimization strategies with a broad impact. Champions and strategizes the use of automation across the network lifecycle to drive significant operational improvements and enable new capabilities. Leads the development of automation frameworks. Lead standardized deployment of routers, switches, firewalls, IDS/IPS, load balancers, and wireless infrastructure. Implement and manage monitoring/alerting systems for all locations. Configure ACLs, firewall rules, and access policies. Deploy/manage VoIP and other real-time systems. Monitor networking equipment across facilities in five different states, ensuring operational continuity and rapid-incident response. 3. Network Maintenance and Troubleshooting Tackles the most ambiguous and challenging systemic problems. Develops frameworks for problem analysis and prevention across the organization. Provide expert troubleshooting for complex network issues. Continuously monitor and optimize network performance. Maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures. Patch and upgrade devices in a secure, documented process. Oversee lifecycle management and replacement planning for network hardware organization wide. 4. Security and Compliance Defines and oversees the organization's network security strategy, architecture, and compliance posture. Anticipate future threats and designs proactive security measures. Enforce network security aligned with HIPAA, PCI DSS, and industry best practices. Perform regular security assessments and address vulnerabilities. Collaborate with security teams on incident response and remediation. Maintain audit-ready documentation. 5. Collaboration and Communication Work with IT teams (server, security, applications) for smooth integration. Excels at communicating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, including executive leadership and non-technical stakeholders. Manages relationships with key vendors and partners. Provide network insight and support during project planning. Negotiate and manage telecommunications and circuit contracts, including renewals and pricing. Coordinate with vendors under Enterprise Agreements to ensure cost savings, operational efficiency, and consistent implementation of best practices across all locations. 6. Mentorship and Leadership Provides high-level technical leadership and guidance across multiple teams and departments. Influences senior management and sets technical direction. Mentors engineers and cultivates a strong engineering culture. Develop team documentation, SOPs, and best practices. Lead network-focused projects. Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends. Requirements: Required Qualifications: 10+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, preferably within a healthcare environment. Expert-level, often multi-domain, knowledge. Sets the standard for technical excellence. Deep understanding of intricate interactions within complex, large-scale networks and can architect solutions for them. Leads the charge in adopting and mastering new, cutting-edge technologies. Strong expertise in architecture management: Networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) Routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP) SD-WAN technologies and architecture Firewalls, VPNs, wireless technologies, and VoIP Hands-on experience with enterprise-class network hardware, including Cisco, Juniper, HP Aruba, and Cisco Meraki. Proficiency in network monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG). In-depth understanding of network security principles and healthcare regulations (HIPAA, etc.). Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related fields (or equivalent experience). Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and/or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certifications (within the past 5-years). Experience with cloud networking platforms (AWS, Azure). Familiarity with network automation and scripting (Python, Ansible). Knowledge of EHR systems and medical device networking and integration. Physical Requirements: Sit for extended periods. Lift and move equipment (up to 50 lbs). Work in data center environments. Occasional travel into markets as required.
