Job Description
*This is a 1 year temporary assignment. This is a hybrid role - requiring 3 days on-site and 2 days off-site per week. Candidate must be local to San Diego, CA.*
The Data Analyst 1 role is responsible for developing programs, designing logic, and using SQL querying as a standard part of building and updating databases, as well as performing analytics tasks such as creating dashboards and generating reports for business teams. It supports the day-to-day activities of the team responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of enterprise Data Warehouse and Reporting systems. Provides the evaluation, implementation, maintenance, and documentation of existing and emerging database technologies, including both relational (structured) databases and NoSQL (unstructured/cloud) database technologies. Configures and troubleshoots data related applications, and collaborates with engineering and business teams to ensure best practices are followed. This position is also accountable for providing development and operational support to other IT development resources.
Supervisory responsibilities:
- This position reports directly to the Manager, Data Warehouse for coaching, performance appraisal work, guidance, direction and feedback.
- This position will be a part of 3 Data Engineers and 1 Data Analyst.
NATURE & SCOPE:
As a Data Analyst:
- This position will provide overall development, programming, coding and troubleshooting effort for all the Data warehouse and Reporting technologies. Collaborates with Data Architecture and Core Development teams to assure adherence to best practices and process standardization.
- Actively participates in design, development and implementation of Data Analytics and Data Warehouse projects, Data Governance, Data Quality systems for standardization of member data and actively participates in the data related activities for the digital platform conversion project.
- Performs the implementation, maintenance, and documentation of existing and emerging database technologies on premise as well as cloud infrastructure. Provides advanced support for SQL database, NoSQL database and cloud database enabled applications.
- Configures and maintains the organization’s Operation Data Store (ODS) that will contain Single Source of Truth (SSOT) information and accesses data directly from an online transaction processing (OLTP) system which are located in Azure cloud and on premise infrastructure.
- Maintain, configure and automate changes required for the organizations core Data Warehouse system which is a Relational Database, to perform effectively on the daily load and the nightly data extract transform and load (ETL) process.
- Develops datasets for analytics in Data Analytics platform and creates advanced reporting within Business Intelligence tools.
- Develops and maintains data fields utilized by the Fraud department to actively monitor fraud alerts on live systems.
- Assist in deployment of various business applications from lower environments to production using automated build tools and scripting.
- Provides advanced support for database systems, including High Availability using Always on Availability Groups (AG’s) and Basic Availability Groups (BAG’s), Disaster Recovery, performance tuning, troubleshooting long running queries, index maintenance, and analyzing query plans.
- SME for various business applications used by departments such as accounting, consumer lending, collections, card services, support services and ensures IT systems are kept up to date according to the organization’s policies.
- Follows agile software development methodologies - Scrum process for software development and Kanban for bugs and tickets.
- Participates in help desk functions periodically to ensure quality service is provided according to company standards in a timely and effective manner.
- Creates or updates and make improvements to related procedure/manuals identifying Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) for assigned tasks.
- Provides technical support to credit union staff to ensure effective utilization of SQL databases, including capacity and performance planning.
- Establishes and maintains regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s end users regarding pertinent IT activities.

Other Education, Skills, and Abilities
- Requires an undergraduate degree in computer science, data science or related discipline. Also requires a minimum of 3 years of related work experience utilizing comprehensive knowledge of database engineering and analytics.
- Excellent knowledge and skills in Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL coding, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), MySQL in Amazon RDS, Azure SQL Database and Managed Instance.
- Requires experience in Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) process using SQL Server Integration Services and also experience in hybrid data integration using Azure Data Factory (ADF), Informatica IICS.
- Knowledge and experience in configuring and maintaining organizations Operational Data Store (ODS) using unstructured database like Cosmos DB and MongoDB Atlas cluster in Azure cloud environment.
- Requires hands on experience in Informatica Data Quality (IDQ) for data standardization; Data Integration using Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS) and Data Governance experience.
- Highly skilled in data transformation services Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) and experience in developing, administering and present reports through BI Tools like Power BI or Tableau.
- Hands on experience in Data Analytics platforms like Azure Synapse Analytics and Snowflake is a plus.
- Expertise in scripting and automation using PowerShell.
- Code promotion using source control tools like Visual Studio, GitHub, Team Foundation Server and Azure DevOps Server is a plus.
- Experience in data encryption technologies like TDE (Transparent Data Encryption), data masking, data obfuscation, Always Encrypted and column encryption is a plus.
- Knowledge in programming languages such as .NET, HTML, XML, JavaScript and Python is preferred.
- Knowledge in configuring and maintaining web applications using Microsoft IIS and Java is preferred.
- Experience in enterprise applications like outlook, exchange, active directory, SharePoint Online, FootPrints, ServiceNow ticketing system is a plus.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Salary Range (hourly) - $34.00 - $40.00
