Annual Giving Officer

The Annual Giving Officer will play a critical role in the processing and stewardship of annual gifts supporting various programs across UMS. The Annual Giving Officer will also be responsible for soliciting Annual Fund donor gifts up to $10,000. The responsibilities include: Secure and steward new, renewed, or increased funding from individuals making gifts of up to $10,000 annually. Develop overall Annual Fund strategy each year -- including discovery, cultivation, and stewardship of new and existing donors. Plan, design, and implement UMS's print and digital Annual Fund solicitations, collaborating with the UMS Marketing & Communications team. Identify new constituent prospects and create an Annual Fund communication plan. Work with the Development team to establish Annual Fund revenue goals for the fiscal year. Coordinate and establish benchmarks and regular reporting processes to measure results of all annual fund activities. Assist with coordination of and communication to donor/prospect groups and/or recognition programs to acknowledge donors at the appropriate level and retain long-term donors. Prepare personalized giving reminders as needed. Serve as the UMS liaison to the Annual Giving office at Office of University Development (uAG). Have a comprehensive understanding of the funding needs and organizational priorities of UMS. Additional responsibilities include: Process all gifts and prepare acknowledgements for all gifts in a timely manner. Prepare and track all gift agreement paperwork and processing. Gather, record, and properly store information in both Tessitura and DART. Coordinate all performance sponsor-related stewardship. Attend performances and help staff UMS events when needed. Provide administrative and project support to the Development Team. Annually solicit and steward existing and new trade partnerships with local businesses. Annually solicit and steward existing and new advertisers for UMS program books. Now in its 146th season, UMS continues to showcase traditional performing arts alongside contemporary artists and is admired across the country for its boundary-pushing roster of artists and its curious and supportive audiences. Housed on the campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, UMS is one of the oldest performing arts presenters in the country, committed to connecting audiences with performing artists from around the world in uncommon and engaging experiences. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with 1-3 years of annual giving/development experience in a university or non-profit setting. Excellent written and oral communications skills. Attention to detail, with an appreciation for process. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a team environment. Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with individual donors, volunteers, and community stakeholders. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Ability to attend evening/weekend performances and events when needed. Desired Qualifications: Dynamic self-starter who can think strategically and provide solutions. Ability to work well under pressure; embodies the values of persistence, perseverance, tenacity, integrity, and patience. Strategist that is motivated by deadlines and measurable outcomes. Experience with software programs for retrieving, organizing, and researching appropriate donor/prospect information, as well as data gathering and manipulation. Experience with Google Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office. Familiarity with and commitment to the arts, or eagerness to learn. Familiarity with Tessitura, UMS's database, and DART, the University's donor and alumni database. This full-time position, with workdays Monday through Friday.
