Job Title
Responsibilities: Shipping Operations: Prepare outbound shipments by verifying order accuracy, selecting appropriate packaging materials, and securing items for transit. Operate Ship Station, ERP systems (Global Shop), and carrier software (FedEx, UPS, DHL) to generate shipping labels, manifests, and tracking details. Coordinate with carriers to schedule pickups, negotiate rates, and resolve delivery discrepancies. Enforce FIFO (First-In-First-Out) principles to prioritize urgent shipments and prevent delays. Monitor shipping costs and recommend cost-saving strategies, such as consolidating shipments or selecting alternative carriers. Documentation & Compliance: Prepare bills of lading, commercial invoices, and customs documentation for international shipments. Ensure compliance with DOT, IATA, and OSHA regulations, particularly for hazardous materials or restricted items. Maintain digital records of shipping documents in the ERP system for auditing and traceability. Conduct pre-shipment inspections to verify compliance with customer specifications and regulatory requirements. Inventory Coordination: Collaborate with warehouse teams to locate and pull items for shipment, minimizing downtime between order fulfillment and dispatch. Perform cycle counts on high-priority inventory to ensure stock accuracy before shipping. Report inventory discrepancies, such as shortages or damaged goods, to the Warehouse Coordinator for resolution. Safety and Quality Assurance: Adhere to safety protocols when operating equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts) and handling heavy or hazardous materials. Inspect packaging for defects and reinforce boxes to prevent damage during transit. Participate in monthly safety training and report near-misses or incidents to supervisors. Customer Service Coordination: Liaise with the customer service team to address shipping inquiries, update delivery timelines, and resolve issues like lost packages. Proactively communicate delays or carrier disruptions to affected stakeholders. Technology & Reporting: Generate daily shipping reports to track metrics like on-time delivery rates, cost per shipment, and carrier performance. Troubleshoot technical issues with Ship Station or ERP systems and escalate to IT when necessary. Requirements and Skills: High school diploma or equivalent; certification in logistics or supply chain management preferred. 1-2 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations. Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Global Shop) and shipping platforms (Ship Station, Easy ship). Familiarity with carrier portals (FedEx, UPS), freight classification, and customs documentation. Strong attention to detail to minimize shipping errors and ensure compliance. Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire). Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
