Hematology/Oncology Physician

Schedule & Coverage:

• Outpatient and inpatient responsibilities
• Hours per Shift: Outpatient 25 patients per day, Inpatient 20 patients per day during call

Description :

• The physician will provide outpatient and inpatient care for adult and geriatric patients.
• The case mix includes approximately 65 percent benign hematology and 35 percent malignant oncology.
• The physician will manage bone marrow transplants.
• The physician will oversee blood bank services.
• The physician will participate in tumor boards.
• The physician will order diagnostic tests and imaging.
• The physician will prescribe and develop treatment plans.
• Chemotherapy administration will be managed by nurse oncologists.
• The role is supported by a strong advanced practice provider team and oncology nursing staff.
• Electronic medical record system used is EPIC.
• Credentialing process is approximately 60 days.
• No call is required during the locum assignment.
• If converting to permanent placement, call is expected for one week every six to eight weeks.

Experience : Clinical experience in hematology and oncology with focus on both benign and malignant cases

License : Active state medical license or willingness to obtain

Certifications : Board Certified in Hematology and Oncology, BLS, DEA

Must -Have : Experience in managing bone marrow transplants, oversight of blood bank services, and participation in tumor boards
