Job description: We are an industry leader in high volume thermoplastic production and manufacturing – and we’re growing. We’re looking for a weekend injection molding Apprentice Set-Up Technician to join our family! Full-time - 42 hours per week (includes paid over time) A Shift (Thursday 12PM-6PM & Friday - Sunday 6AM-6PM) The goal of the Apprentice Setup Technician program is to provide a progression opportunity and training in the role of a Setup Technician for candidates and an evaluation of a candidate’s ability in the Setup Technician role for Solidify. The apprentice duration is considered a twelve-month engagement which will consist of (as applicable/available): School or course instruction (Paulson training, Community College, etc). Partner with an existing technician for completion of the appropriate training guides. On the job training and time in the role. At the end of the twelve-month time period a formal recommendation from the trainer and Operations Leadership staff will be made to promote the candidate full time to Setup Tech or return to their previous and/or comparable position. Our company reserves the right to promote or return an individual to their previous position (assuming current good standing) at any time throughout the process based on an individual’s capabilities or solely on the discretion of the Operations Director. Essential Functions at End of Program: Successful completion of the appropriate checklist and training guides assigned Independently perform daily setups, startups, shut downs, pulls and end of run, line clearance of machines, related equipment and materials on IMM (injection molding machines) or BMM (blow molding machines) Remove, clean, document, store and install tooling per process Read and understand Setup Instructions, Cycle Sheets, Work Instructions and other processes Demonstrate general key points and operation of BMM/IMM (machine screens, settings, safety features, etc) Demonstrate general key points and operation of BMM/IMM auxiliary equipment Completion of overhead crane and forklift certification Demonstrate beginner level knowledge to troubleshoot and course correct production processes that are not meeting output expectations Demonstrate general understanding of various materials and how to identify items referenced in setup sheet Maintains an organized work area (5S) to include workstations, equipment, walkways, etc Qualifications, Education, Skills, and/or Experience Required To Be Considered for a Candidate: Demonstrated processing or mechanical experience Preferred High School diploma/GED Preferred Minimum of one (1) year in a manufacturing environment Ability to do basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions and decimals) Able to become familiar with many types of resins Ability to safely operate a forklift and overhead cranes Ability to promote and maintain a safe work environment Able to use measuring instruments such as scales, calipers, dial Indicators and computers Mechanically inclined Physical Requirements: Able to lift up to 40 pounds Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, pushing-pulling, and reaching throughout the entire shift.
