Logistics Coordinators work as part of a tight-knight community, ensuring a smooth and safe experience for our staff and students alike. Since 1967, North Carolina Outward Bound School (NCOBS) has delivered challenging wilderness adventures that teach more than outdoor skills. Our wilderness courses, from the mountains of North Carolina to the shores of south Florida to the peaks of South America, deliver on our mission "to change lives through challenge and discovery." Essential Functions: Supports the delivery of the Outward Bound programming and mission. Creates and upholds facilities organization, efficient operations, and cleanliness. Handles all logistical details, preparations, and support for several student courses in the field at once. Other duties as assigned Duties and Responsibilities: Coordinates the issue, de-issue, and maintenance of the field-based equipment. Includes clean up, repair, laundry, and inventory. Prepares and delivers field-based resupplies for staff and students while on course. Picks up and transports crews between locations in the beginning, middle, and end of course. Assists the Facilities Manager with weekly vehicle checks, maintenance, and communication regarding necessary repairs. Participates in the logistics coordinator on-call system and responds to field emergencies. Demonstrates the ability to behave as a role model for students. Adheres to all local operating procedures, safety policies, and emergency procedures outlined in the NCOBS Policy Manual and Employee Handbook. Provides clear, effective, and timely communication with Instructors, Course Directors, and other staff. Consistently strives to openly share and receive feedback with/from co-workers and supervisors. Articulates and role models Outward Bound's mission, history, and values. Commits to professional growth, including improving technical and interpersonal skills. Compensation and Benefits: Pay is per diem $100/day. Room and board provided at basecamp during the length of the working season Eligible for pro-deal purchasing program. Ability to attend professional development trainings for rock climbing and white-water canoeing at no cost. Basecamp living: Both basecamps are located amidst National Forest, with trails right out the door! Basecamps are ~ 1 hour from the nearest town. Staff cabins are rustic and comfortable; laundry, showers, internet, a group kitchen, and recreational spaces are all available at the base camps. Daily meals are provided when working. Lunch and dinner are made each day by the Kitchen Manager. Food is provided for everyone to make their own breakfast and have snacks. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum age - 21 years old. Personal and professional values consistent with the NCOBS mission, values, and principles. Valid Driver's License held for a minimum of three years with a clean driving record/background check. Solid organizational skills. Strong personal initiative, motivation, and resourcefulness. Cooperative, positive attitude, and ability to be flexible. Able to drive program vehicles on steep, rugged roads. (15-passenger vans with trailers)
