Join to apply for the MRI Technologist role at Townsen Memorial Hospital at the Katy location! Townsen Memorial Hospital is looking for a MRI Technologist to join our team. The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing magnetic resonance imaging studies using a magnetic resonance device, including preparing patients, positioning, setting imaging parameters, performing computer processing, and displaying images. Selects appropriate imaging protocol for patient studies. Performs quality assurance scans as required. Demonstrates the ability to work cohesively as a team member within the MRI Department. Responsibilities Set up and operate MRI scanners used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patients
Ensure the procedure produces quality images and information for the health care professional to make an accurate diagnosis
Position patient and set up and adjust equipment to obtain the best quality MRI image of the specific body area requested by the physician
Take preventative steps to ensure safety of patients and fellow staff
Screen all patients to ensure no metal is in or on the patient’s body
Address patient concerns during the procedure, and explain the MRI process in an informative and reassuring manner
Position and restrain patients; take MRI of chest, limbs, or other body parts as requested by the physicians
Implement infection control procedures for the work area
Check MRI images for clarity and retake MRI when needed
Distribute films to appropriate medical staff and transfer images to electronic medical records (EMR)
Maintain quantity and quality control checks to assure MRI unit meets standards required by laws, rules, and facility policy
Perform MRI procedures for patients in surgery or at outpatient imaging departments
Clean, maintain, and make minor adjustments to MRI equipment, including determining repairs needed
Troubleshoot peripheral equipment and scanners to ensure equipment is operating properly and minimize downtime or delays
Protect patients and staff from any metal exposure
Maintain radiographic supplies, film, and equipment
Ensure all materials and other required equipment are present and in working order
Follow all safety rules on the job. Report accidents promptly and correct minor safety hazards
Communicate with peers and management regarding hazards identified in the workplace
Protect patient and family privacy rights and maintain confidentiality of patient records in accordance with policy, procedure, and HIPAA requirements
Adhere to the company standards of business conduct
Performs other duties as assigned by medical provider and facility
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Knowledge of the principles and practices of diagnostic radiographic procedures
Knowledge of basic chemistry, film apparatus, and film processing techniques
Knowledge of how disease and injuries are diagnosed and imaged radiographically
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work
Knowledge of human anatomy
Knowledge of computer and relevant software applications
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
Education And Experience Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or Associate Degree in Radiology Studies
Licensed by the Medical State Board of Texas as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT)
Registered MRI Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-MR); or
Registered Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
