Construction Estimator Job at Trandon Associates, Inc in New York

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team in New York City. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for public and private construction projects, with a strong focus on infrastructure, transit, and heavy civil work. Experience with MTA projects is highly preferred, as the role requires knowledge of agency-specific bid processes, standards, and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to prepare detailed cost estimates.

• Develop quantity take-offs, labor and material pricing, subcontractor/vendor solicitations, and bid proposals.

• Analyze scope of work, identify risks, and propose value engineering opportunities.

• Prepare and submit bids in compliance with MTA and other public agency requirements.

• Maintain an up-to-date cost database and subcontractor/vendor network.

• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure continuity between estimates and project execution.

• Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as required.

• Track historical data, market trends, and industry pricing to support accurate forecasting.

• Ensure compliance with NYC building codes, union labor requirements, and public contract guidelines.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of estimating experience in construction, preferably within transportation, infrastructure, or heavy civil projects.

• MTA project estimating experience strongly preferred; familiarity with their bid process and specifications required.

• Strong knowledge of NYC public agency projects (MTA, NYCT, LIRR, Metro-North, NYCDOT, etc.).

Salary: $100,000 - $150,000
