This is a unique opportunity for a professional with demonstrated experience in the management of utility-scale renewable energy construction projects to join a growing and dynamic company. This is a cross-functional position that will support the buildout of Birchs project pipeline from development to operations and continued growth in the renewable energy sector. This role will work in close collaboration with development, commercial, project execution teams, finance, legal, EPC, and accounting.
Birch Creeks main offices are located in St. Louis (HQ) and Los Angeles. Remote-work candidates are welcome.
Summary Under the direction of the Director of Project Management, the Assistant Project Manager is responsible for managing all aspects and phases of multiple solar & storage EPC projects and programs. The Assistant Project Manager is primarily responsible for collaboration with project stakeholders such as owners, utilities, landowners, municipalities, developers, consultants, subcontractors, and other project partners, and internal resources such as engineering and construction professionals. The Assistant Project Manager will achieve project and corporate goals, which are generally described as follows: project schedule, scope management, budget performance, quality requirements, and safety. The Assistant Project Manager will foster a cooperative relationship with project partners and internal resources while meeting the Company's strategic goals and continually messaging the value of the Company's services to stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities Support Project Managers in overseeing project lifecycles from development through construction and commissioning. Assist with budget tracking, scheduling, and resource allocation. Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution. Prepare project documentation, including RFPs, contracts, meeting minutes, and progress reports. Track and manage permitting, interconnection, and compliance requirements. Support risk management by identifying issues and helping develop mitigation strategies. Contribute to project closeout activities, including performance testing and handoff to operations. Maintain accurate and organized project records.
Qualifications Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Environmental Studies, or related field. 23 years of relevant experience in project coordination or management, ideally in renewable energy, construction, or utilities. Familiarity with solar PV, battery storage, or other energy infrastructure projects preferred. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Smartsheet) is a plus. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse teams and stakeholders. Detail-oriented with a problem-solving mindset. Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites.
