Receiving Warehouse Specialist

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is seeking an experienced individual to join our team as a Receiving Warehouse Specialist. This position reports to the Mailroom Manager and is part of our Procurement team. Candidates should be hard working, self-motivated, high energy team players who are prepared to work in a fast paced, physical environment. They should be able to switch gears based on changing priorities and be able to work independently. Duties include: Receives a wide variety of in-coming materials, supplies, food, beverages and various equipment. Loading and unloading palletized freight using a pallet jack. Ships packages and freight with shipping services such as UPS and FedEx, in the most cost effective manner. Maintains a safe, clean, well-maintained and secure work environment. Delivers packages and freight received to the departments that ordered them. Maintains a daily log of in-coming shipments. Distributes heavy stationary, printed materials and copy paper, where needed, upon request, from various museum departments. Assists the Mailroom Manager with handling and disposal of surplus items that have been turned in by various departments. Minimum Qualifications Working knowledge of shipping, receiving, and warehouse procedures and recordkeeping. Working knowledge of postal and various common carrier regulations and procedures. Skill in the operation of material handling equipment. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to prioritize multiple work tasks; to maintain accurate receiving logs and related records. Ability to manipulate heavy materials. Knowledge of USPS and various common carrier systems. Additional Considerations Must have a valid Virginia Driver's license. Warehouse, shipping and receiving experience preferred.
