Position Summary: We are seeking a safety-focused and hands-on Electrician to contribute to the daily operations of our ski area. This role involves the maintenance and repair of various electrical systems in a mountain environment. This position plays a critical role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems across the ski area including lifts, facilities, and distribution. The ideal candidate has a strong background in electrical work, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys working outdoors in challenging winter conditions. The candidate will work both independently and collaboratively with the mountain operations team and will directly assist the Director of Mountain Operations and the Mobile Equipment and Power Systems Manager with current and future project planning. This role will coordinate electrical maintenance needs with other department managers and outside vendors as necessary.

General Responsibilities

  • Maintain and oversee electrical systems including electrical power, control panels and distribution, lodge and facilities lighting, heating, fuel systems pumps and controls
  • Help maintain and coordinate radio communication systems
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues on lifts, buildings, snowmaking systems, and other infrastructure
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure safe and reliable operations
  • Ensure compliance with all electrical codes, safety regulations, and company policies
  • Respond to emergency repair requests and system outages during operational hours
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and system modifications
  • Assist with electrical needs during capital improvement projects and seasonal installations
  • Follow safety guidelines as described in the Accident Prevention Plan and as trained
  • Report safety concerns directly to the Mobile Equipment and Power Systems Maintenance Manager, Director of Mountain Operations, and General Manager as trained
  • Actively participate in fostering a positive safety culture through words and actions
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Starting Compensation

  • $35/hr+, DOE

Anticipated Scheduling

  • Year Round Schedule, 40 hrs/week

Essential Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outside in inclement winter weather for extended periods
  • Bending, twisting, lifting and moving items throughout the day
  • Ability to lift and move 75 pounds (or more depending on task)
  • Standing and/or sitting for long periods
  • Climbing and descending stairs
  • Shoveling and moving snow
  • Standing and walking on compact snow and ice
  • Perform repetitive tasks as necessary

Required Knowledge/Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of ski lift systems or willingness to learn
  • Familiarity with ANSI B77 (ski lift safety standards) and ski lift electrical systems
  • Work independently and collaboratively, with respectful interpersonal skills
  • Identify, propose and implement check and balance processes in assigned work
  • Experience with PLCs, VFDs, and control systems is a plus
  • Maintain active workplace and efficient workflow of assigned employees
  • Self-direct workflow
  • Adapt to and navigate changing climate as well as operational and department changes and/or needs
  • Resiliency under stressors and varying workload

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Experience with industrial or commercial electrical systems
  • Comfortable working on all levels of voltage from 12VDC to 12,470AC
  • Knowledge of underground electrical installations
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and technical manuals
  • Comfortable working at heights, on uneven terrain, and in varying weather conditions
  • Produce accurate work products and work papers/source docs
  • Communicate directly and professionally with a variety of communication styles
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including timely responses to managers and employees, and communication of personal needs
  • Ability to multi-task in busy environment
  • Ability to communicate tasks and system adjustments efficiently and positively to a team
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Willingness to learn and perform a variety of administrative duties
  • Willingness to provide feedback for improvements
  • Ability to implement new systems

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Washington State Journey Level Electricians License (01)
  • 2+ years of direct electrician experience
  • Must be 18 years or older
