Part Time Barista+ : $15/hr (+tips). 20+ Hours Starting with Potential to be hired Full Time
Who We are:
We were coffee roasters, then we made cold brew, then we made a coffee shop! We’re new to our café but we’ve been in the neighborhood for a while, and we’re looking for employees to help us grow. As a Barista+ you’ll perform standard barista duties (listed below), as well as helping with food prep for the shop, and production tasks for our Roastery and Cold Brewery. This is an entry level, growth-oriented position so the more you learn about the business the more opportunities you’ll have to move into other roles. Qualifications
- 2 Year Barista Experience or 2 years Bartending Experience, or 4 years Food Service Experience
- Demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for coffee as well as a desire to educate others about our coffee
- Team player looking to join and contribute to a growing organization
- Ability to deliver exceptional hospitality in a personal and professional manner
- Strong attention to detail and a healthy respect for cleanliness and sanitation
- Current Food Handler Certification
- Great communication skills both with employees and customers of all backgrounds
- Open to feedback and constantly striving to improve
- Ability to multi-task with ease
- Open to Early AMs
- Taste/Smell - ability to detect and perceive smell of coffee
- Talk/hear - frequently communicates with customers
Responsibilities
- Prepare espresso, cold brew, and other beverages for customers, meeting Ostara's quality standards
- Prepare and serve food on menu (including but not limited to : breakfast sandwiches, toast, vegan breakfast items, eggs and dairy)
- Assist with production tasks for Roastery and Cold Brewery
- Deliver an exceptional customer experience; proactively engage with customers to understand and meet their needs
- Develop a thorough understanding of our coffees, beverages, foods, merchandise and promotions to drive sales and have knowledgeable conversations with customers
- Maintain a clean and organized environment to customers and coworkers in all areas of the store
- Demonstrate willingness and openness to change and share ideas on how to make your store even better
- Taste coffee, tea and specialty beverages regularly to maintain familiarity with product and quality standards
- Accurately process transactions in the POS system and reconcile till
- Practice self-reflection and ask for feedback on performance; know and hone your personal strengths and opportunities for improvement
- Responsible for day-to-day activities that embrace sustainability and reduce the impact at your facility
- Follow SOPs for minimizing waste, conserving energy and limiting water usage and share ideas on how to improve processes whenever possible
- Other duties as assigned
- Stand and walk - must be able to stand for shifts and move about the cafe
- Perform repetitive motion with the hands, wrists and forearms to operate espresso machinery
- Carry weight, lift - lift up to 5 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Work is performed at the cafe
