External SA Recycling is hiring: Mechanic in Savannah

Job Duties

Including, but not limited to:

1. Drive company mechanic truck to pick up parts and help trucks when issues arise off site.
2. Troubleshoot problems with machinery.
3. Repair engines, engine-cooling systems, drivetrain parts, brake systems, and basic electrical parts.
4. Remove and replace parts of hydraulic systems and tool attachments (shears, forks, grapples).
5. Remove and repair some body parts, ladders, platforms, catwalks, and engine covers.
6. Perform limited torch cutting and welding.
7. Clean up work area at the end of shift.
8. Keep work areas neat and orderly.
9. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential job functions.
10. Organize materials to have more effective use of space.
11. Dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate manner.
12. Inspect to ensure cleanup is completed.
13. Effective housekeeping in workplace area is an ongoing operation for safety and better hygienic conditions for all team members.

Qualifications

1. Employees in this position prior to April 2014 are presumed to be qualified and are "grandfathered" into their positions.
2. Must pass a medical physical and drug test.
3. Must pass a background check.
4. Preferred – high school diploma or GED and/or foreign education acceptable.
5. Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus.
6. Ability to communicate with others effectively; understand direction (written or oral) and use basic math skills as the job demands.
7. Diesel Mechanic school or certification preferred.
8. Previous experience with hydraulic repairs a plus.
9. Forklift experience a plus.

1. Work Environment: Scrap yard, large equipment metal processing area.
2. Equipment & Tools: Yard equipment, electrical safety equipment, hand tools, and PPE specialized for electricians.
