Providing timely review, assessment, and recommendation of release requests to ORR to ensure the prompt release of UACs to a sponsor once it is determined that the sponsor can provide for the child's safety and well-being.
- Assisting ORR in ensuring children are placed in the least restrictive setting while ensuring safety and minimizing flight risk of the UAC.
- Meeting with individual UACs when safety concerns are identified and coordinating with care provider staff at designated ORR-funded sites.
- Providing targeted child welfare assistance to care provider staff, as directed by ORR.
- Preparing written assessments and reviewing or providing technical assistance to case managers' and clinicians' assessments as needed.
- Collaborating with care providers and ORR to recommend home studies and post-release services for at-risk children.
- Making placement recommendations, including for children requiring specialized care such as long-term foster care, residential treatment centers, or secure care.
- Participating in case coordination tasks according to ORR / DUCO policies and procedures.
- Leading case staffing discussions with care providers to review individual cases and progress.
- Providing updates to designated ORR staff on individual UAC cases and escalating complex cases as necessary.
- Travel may be required up to 25% of the time to designated client sites.
Requirements:
- Must undergo a Tier 2 Public Trust investigation.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or Social Sciences.
- Fluency in English and Spanish, with documented proficiency.
- Minimum of 5 years of social work experience.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general PC knowledge.
- This is a hybrid position based in Corpus Christi, Texas. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance to travel occasionally to shelter locations in San Antonio.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working with immigrant youth and families.
- Experience in juvenile justice.
Security Clearance: Public Trust required.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years of relevant experience or Master’s Degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
