Overview

Leidos currently has an opening for an IT Specialist Senior to support execution of projects on the SMIT contract and to be located in Kaneohe Bay, HI. The Senior IT Specialist will oversee the operation of network systems, architecture, and topology through deployment and oversight of network operations specialists. The qualified candidate will also perform asset scanning and logging of assets that have been delivered in accordance with established Government directives for both Lab and Production assets.

SMIT is the largest IT services program for the Navy. As a member of the Leidos team, you will assist in the delivery of the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet, including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport. Leidos will support the Navy in unifying its shore-based networks and data management to improve capability and service while also saving significant dollars by focusing efforts under one enterprise network.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced systems installation, operation, integration, and troubleshooting to maintain optimum Information Technology (IT) system operations.

  • Design and oversee upgrades and new installations of IT systems and services ensuring coordination with Cyber Security Specialist. Perform Tier III upgrades of networking systems, IT systems, and storage networking.

  • Perform Tier III troubleshooting, optimization, and performance management of Internet Protocol (IP), Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), and routing protocols.

  • Integrate enterprise, regional, and local IT systems ensuring current network operations are sustained or oversee their recovery.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business, or related field. Experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • Eight years of IT experience including IPv6, EIGRP, BGP, VLANs, VPNs, and NAT.

  • Basic understanding of the MCEN network; troubleshooting a live network; with intermediate understanding of devices such as Juniper VPNs, Cisco routers/switches, Palo Alto firewalls, FortiGate firewalls, and Gigamon.

  • CCNA certification is required. CCNP certification is preferred and would have to be obtained within 180 days of hire.

  • U.S. Citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance.
