Major Duties

  • The incumbent performs technical and analytical work in the planning, development, integration, utilization or modification of communications network systems, facilities and procedures, and Voice and Video Collaboration.
  • Responsible for creating/updating network maps; configuring and maintaining LAN management equipment; analyzing requests for additional services for compliance with directives and submitting recommendations for approval or disapproval.
  • Develop project plans involving the long-term technical goals of DLA Information Operations.
  • Responsible for installing software patches and updates to the Video Teleconference Units (VTU) in the site, monitoring hardware upgrade installations and refreshes, and conducting Video system tests and analyzing results.
  • The incumbent troubleshoots all Video equipment and communication issues, reconfiguring the system, checking protocols, and resolving network connectivity issues.
  • Responsible for independently resolving or participating in resolving very complex multi-site or agency-wide network communications that affect VTC/SV operations. Develops plans and conducts/leads broad and complex studies to identify and recommend agency VTC/SV program and/or equipment improvements. Responsible for Digital Signage and IP/TV deployment, governance, and maintenance.

Qualification Summary

Qualifications: To qualify for an IT Specialist (SYSADMIN/INFOSEC), your qualifications must include: A. Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience that equips the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level. Examples of specialized experience are identified in the Major Duties section of this vacancy announcement and may also include: Acts as a single point of contact for IPTV and Digital Signage solutions, acting as the site point of contact for Columbus Land and Maritime, coordinating and governing policy between all locations to ensure a coherent and standard process and policy between all supporting organizations. The position is responsible for loading software patches and/or system configuration modifications for Classified and Unclassified video and network devices, and receives, prepares, and implements software enhancements. The incumbent reviews user and Agency VTC/SV, Digital Signage, IP/TV network communications systems requirements, justifications, cost estimates and implementation dates, considering impact of proposed projects on current and future network requirements; researches, initiates and assists in developing proposals and funding documents supporting recommendations and conclusions for VTC/SV, Digital Signage, IP/TV software or hardware modifications, enhancements and upgrades. Works closely with the VTC Chief, senior DLA specialists, and senior supervisors/managers to develop and issue agency level guidance for the processing, maintenance, receipt, distribution, and issue of COMSEC materials, equipment and documents. Prepares and maintains COMSEC equipment and document inventories, ensuring local control and accountability within the account and by user agencies. For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving. Experience may include paid or unpaid work, volunteer service, or National Service programs. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Compensation: $120,579-$156,755 per year
