Fortis Employment Law is a boutique civil rights and employment law practice representing Maryland workers in discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, and wage theft cases. We're seeking an

entry-level Maryland attorney . This position is primarily

remote .

As an Attorney, youll work directly with the managing attorney on every case gaining one-on-one mentorship, meaningful courtroom experience, and real responsibility early in your career.

We are a remote-first firm with a manageable caseload of 1520 cases, quarterly in-person syncs, and a strong commitment to balance and growth. Attorneys share in a 25% contingency bonus pool, receive 20 days of paid leave plus paid parental leave, and get a $500 monthly healthcare stipend (with group coverage planned as we grow). $75,000 - $105,000 yearly Responsibilities:

Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and correspondence. Conduct legal research and apply findings to active cases. Communicate regularly with clients to keep them informed and supported. Track deadlines and ensure cases move forward proactively. Participate in mediations, hearings, and trials alongside the managing attorney. Accurately record time spent on substantive case work for fee petitions. Collaborate with the managing attorney on case strategy and execution. Contribute to quarterly in-person firm sync meetings and overall firm culture. Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Admission to the

Maryland bar

(federal admission a plus) Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines with reliability and attention to detail. Collaborative, team-oriented mindset youll always be working closely with another attorney. Genuine interest in employment law, civil rights, and advocating for workers.

Preferred but not required: Prior experience in litigation, legal research, or client-facing work (internships, clinics, or clerkships count). We represent Maryland workers in discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, and wage theft cases. As a solo-founded firm, you wont get lost in a big bureaucracy instead, youll work directly with the managing attorney, gaining one-on-one mentorship and significant courtroom experience early in your career.

Every case is staffed with two attorneys you and the managing attorney, or, as we grow, a senior attorney. This model ensures youll never be on your own, but youll also take real responsibility for moving cases forward, building skills, and directly serving clients.

We are a remote-first practice: attorneys can work anywhere with a quiet, professional space and reliable internet. We gather quarterly for in-person sync meetings to stay connected and aligned.
