Responsibilities Under the general direction of the Trauma Program Director, performs clinical and administrative functions involving gathering and reviewing reports to rule in cases meeting trauma registry inclusion criteria, abstracting patient information and quality/case review data from the medical record, entering the information into the software database in the appropriate abstract format, responding to Trauma Team Activations (TTA's) and rounding on trauma patients. Is responsible to validate data and to write reports from the registry and for Performance Improvement activities. Assists in the development, implementation and continuation of the trauma registry. Assures compliance with the Nevada State Trauma Registry, American College of Surgeons, and St. Rose Trauma Service registry requirements.
Qualifications Minimum:
Three (3) years of critical care nursing experience.
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
RN in State of Nevada; CT CPRBLS; CT TNCC
Knowledge of Hospital policies and procedures; Joint Commission Accredited Health Care Organizations standards State statutes governing hospital services and health care Medicare/Medicaid guidelines and other relevant regulations and standards; clinical medical and nursing procedures; disease processes; department and hospital safety practices and principles; patient rights; age specific patient care practices; infection control policies and practices; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures. Skills in: Interpreting patient charts to determine whether care given was appropriate and properly documented; interpreting regulations and standards for others; writing reports meeting minutes and other technical documents; analyzing statistical and other quantitative data; applying investigative and interviewing techniques; using a computer and a variety of software applications; communicating with a wide variety and establishing interpersonal relationships to interact effectively with co- workers supervisor staff in other work units and exchange or convey information.
