Senior Technical & Creative Recruiter at Cypress HCM Business Development Manager (Navy) This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing startup in the aerospace/defense industry in a key strategic role. Were seeking a mission-driven Business Development Manager to lead engagement with the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. In this role, you will shape strategy, build relationships, and uncover opportunities where our advanced systems can address critical mission gaps. The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced small business environment, collaborates seamlessly across teams, and influences stakeholders at every levelfrom operators to senior decision-makers. Youll navigate the Department of the Navy landscape, driving business development, capture, and proposal activities from end to end. This position sits at the nexus of defense acquisition, operational planning, and advanced technologybridging customer requirements with innovative solutions to deliver mission impact. Responsibilities
Design and execute Navy and Marine Corps engagement strategy, including outreach to operational units, program offices, and platform integrators, to drive growth and new business. Conduct market and opportunity analysis across Navy, Marine Corps, and joint communities to inform strategic pursuits. Identify, qualify, and align new business opportunities with companys capability roadmap and long-term growth strategy. Build and sustain relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers across DoD, DON, national intelligence agencies, and industry partners. Navigate DoD budget cycles and acquisition processes to position company early in the procurement lifecycle. Shape competitive positioning and teaming strategies, and lead development of compliant, compelling proposals for DON programs. Manage complex capture and sales cycles from initial engagement through contract award. Represent company at industry events, conferences, tradeshows, and customer engagements to expand visibility and partnerships. Translate technical capabilities into mission-relevant use cases and value propositions tailored to diverse stakeholders. Partner with engineering, product, and cross-functional teams to shape offerings aligned with customer mission requirements. Ensure compliance with FAR/DFARS and federal procurement standards throughout the process. Maintain capture documentation, activity logs, and CRM records with accuracy and completeness. Track and report on pipeline health and business development performance. Monitor evolving customer needs and market dynamics through direct engagement and research. Requirements and Desired Experience
Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, or a related field. 7+ years of BD experience, specifically with direct experience in the Navy or DoD sector. 5+ years of direct experience working & engaging within aerospace/defense, or gov services Proven track record of executing all aspects of business development. Strong understanding of DoD acquisition, contracting processes, and federal procurement trends. Demonstrated success capturing and growing DoD services contracts, including GWACs, IDIQs and task orders. Experience developing win strategies, shaping opportunities, supporting pricing, and leading proposals. Prior experience with DoD, DON acquisition offices or operational Navy/USMC commands, either as a civilian or military service member is strongly preferred. Experience with DON program offices & operational commands is a plus. Demonstrated success leading or influencing cross-functional teams in matrixed organizations. Experience advising or integrating technology, materials, or engineering solutions into naval systems. Strong competitor analysis skills and the ability to anticipate market behavior and model competitor strategies. Self-motivated, goal-oriented and results-driven, to achieve business objectives. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. A strategic thinker who possesses strong analytical and budget management capabilities. Willing and able to travel domestically and/or internationally; up to 15%. U.S. Citizenship is required; must be able to obtain a DoD security clearance. Compensation
