Priscilla Gardner Main Library – Biblioteca Criolla
REPORTS TO:
Biblioteca Criolla Department Manager
SALARY RANGE:
$21.98
FULL-TIME/PART-TIME:
Part-time
WORKWEEK:
16 hours per week (schedule may vary). Evenings and weekends will be scheduled as needed.

About the Position: Biblioteca Criolla is JCFPL’s dedicated Spanish-language library, serving as a vibrant hub for the city’s Spanish-speaking community. With a wide-ranging and largest print collection in NJ, bilingual programming, and community events that highlight Latino culture and heritage, Biblioteca Criolla is a cornerstone for engagement, learning, and cultural celebration.
Job Duties: Assist patrons with library resources, services, and technology, in both English and Spanish. Support bilingual programs for children, teens, and adults, including story hours, book clubs, and cultural events. Provide circulation support: checkouts, returns, library card applications, and shelving materials. Assist with outreach efforts to connect the Spanish-speaking community with library services. Help ensure a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible environment for all patrons. Required Experience:
Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (spoken and written) required. Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment Evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred Skills:
Previous library or community service experience preferred but not required. NOTES For all employees, regardless of full-time or part-time status, JCFPL’s Learning Center is considered the primary employer. Work hours are assigned according to the LC’s operational needs. Work hours are not scheduled to accommodate employees’ other employment, academic, or other outside obligations, except in circumstances agreed upon in writing by the employee and the employee’s supervisor.
