POSITION PROFILE: The Senior Transportation Project Manager will lead and oversee multiple transportation design projects, ensuring delivery on schedule and within budget while serving as the primary client contact. This role requires strong leadership in mentoring Project Managers, Project Engineers, and technical staff, as well as contributing to proposals, business development, and client relationships. The ideal candidate brings at least 12 years of experience in transportation engineering and project management, a Professional Engineer (PE) license, and ODOT project management experience.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage multiple transportation design projects independently. Monitor and maintain project schedules and budgets. Mentor Project Managers, Project Engineers, and technical staff. Coordinate staffing and workloads to ensure deliverables are completed on time and within budget. Provide technical assistance to project personnel. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, agencies, and subconsultants. Implement QA/QC procedures and review work for compliance with standards. Schedule and attend client, regulatory agency, and stakeholder meetings. Develop and maintain business relationships through direct client interaction. Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, project schedules, and invoices. Assume responsible charge of projects, including applying a PE seal where appropriate. Assist leadership with staff management, recruiting, and participation in professional meetings and conferences.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (required); equivalent experience considered. Professional Engineer (PE) license required; PMP certification preferred. 12+ years of progressive transportation engineering and project management experience. ODOT project management experience strongly preferred. Proficiency in
civil/structural/traffic/environmental
engineering design (roadway, bridge, site, traffic). Strong knowledge of design and administrative software. Experience preparing plans, reports, and specifications to client standards. Strong communication, leadership, organization, and planning skills. Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Willingness to perform required field work.
