We’re seeking a skilled Survey Crew Chief to lead field operations for a variety of civil, commercial, and infrastructure projects in the Wilmington area. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in dynamic environments and values precision, safety, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities Lead one- to three-person survey crews on construction, boundary, topographic, and ALTA surveys Perform stakeouts for highway and heavy civil projects, adapting to changing field conditions Operate and maintain advanced survey equipment including robotic total stations, GNSS systems, and 3D scanners Collect and process data using Trimble Business Center and other CAD platforms Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure accurate execution Maintain detailed field notes and ensure data integrity for as-builts and final deliverables Support drone-based data collection and aerial mapping workflows (FAA Part 107 license a plus) Ensure safety compliance and equipment readiness across all field operations
Qualifications 5+ years of field survey experience, with at least 2 years as a Crew Chief Proficiency with Trimble equipment, GNSS calibration, and robotic instruments Experience with construction stakeout and machine control workflows Familiarity with drone surveying and aerial data collection preferred Strong organizational and leadership skills Valid driver’s license and clean driving record Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and travel as needed
