The Bryan County Board of Commissioners is now accepting applications for a Full Time
Accounting Supervisor
in the Finance Department. This position is responsible for performing managerial, administrative, supervisory, and technical duties in the coordination of customer service, accounts receivable, accounts payable, procurement of goods and services and general ledger functions for the Finance Department. Reports to the County’s Finance Director. The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Supervises and coordinates the activities of the Accounts Payable Specialist, Accounts Receivable Specialist and Procurement Specialist, related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, and bank reconciliations. Performs maintenance of check register, positive pay reporting, and financial transactions for ACH payment to vendors. Assists with monthly/quarterly reporting and reconciliations related to Finance Operations for accounts payable and accounts receivable. Manages the County’s purchase card program; assists with monthly statements and reconciliations to ensure timely posting to general ledger. Processes/Analyzes system data for accurate preparation of 1099s. Reviews requisitions in accounting software for accuracy pertaining to policy and procedure guidelines prior to generating a Purchase Order. Assists with monthly closing activities and year end activities for accounts payable and accounts receivable. Provides technical assistance on financial matters regarding expenditures. Identifies potential problems, prepare corrective action plans, inform staff, and implement plans; work directly with staff to resolve issues and provide process improvements. Assists with the external audit with
questions/documentation
for accounts payable and accounts receivable. Completes other special projects assigned by Finance Director Performs other related duties as required. SKILLS/ABILITIES
Ability to adapt to change while maintaining a positive attitude. Ability to accurately and efficiently enter data into computer software and systems. Proficient with Microsoft Office Outlook, intermediate level in Excel, and Adobe. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Good verbal communication skills. Strong understanding of government accounting principles (GAAP and GASB preferred). MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, or closely related field. Minimum three (3) to five (5) years progressive Accounting experience including supervisory responsibilities or eight (8) years of experience in the field, with at least three (3) years supervisory experience. Experience in governmental accounting environment preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
