Operations Manager – Traffic Control & Pavement Markings
About the Role We’re seeking an experienced
Operations Manager
to lead and grow our traffic control and pavement marking operations. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day branch activities, including crew management, equipment utilization, project scheduling, safety compliance, and customer relations. You’ll play a key role in ensuring operational excellence, maintaining profitability, and delivering outstanding service on roadway construction projects.
Key Responsibilities Lead, coach, and develop traffic control and pavement marking crews to meet safety, quality, and performance goals Manage daily branch operations, including staffing, scheduling, and equipment allocation Oversee financial performance—monitor P&L, forecast revenue, and ensure budget adherence Build and maintain strong relationships with DOT agencies, municipalities, and customers Ensure compliance with union agreements, handle disciplinary actions, and support employee training programs Coordinate with estimating and accounting teams to align production, revenue recognition, and reporting Drive operational efficiency while maintaining the highest safety standards
Qualifications 5+ years of experience in traffic control, pavement marking, or roadway construction operations 5+ years of supervisory or management experience Strong understanding of financial statements (P&L, balance sheets) and project forecasting Knowledge of state DOT traffic control specifications and safety requirements Proficiency in MS Office; experience with HCSS HeavyJob/HeavyBid or similar systems preferred Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering preferred (or equivalent experience)
