Locked In Talent, San Francisco, CA, US
Job Description
Software Engineer, Applied AI
We're hiring an Applied AI Engineer to help strengthen the technical relationship between our platform and its most advanced users. While this is a hands-on engineering role, it’s also highly dynamic—part product, part customer success, and part deployment. You’ll collaborate closely with some of the world’s leading AI labs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) to help architect, launch, and scale their APIs using our tools.
Expect to work on high-impact, often ambiguous problems that shape the future of developer tools and AI infrastructure. You’ll need strong judgment, deep technical fluency across multiple languages, and the confidence to work in and contribute to unfamiliar codebases. You’ll move quickly, learn constantly, and play a key role in advancing the developer experience for top-tier teams.
What You’ll Do
Work directly with key customers—including OpenAI, Anthropic, and Cloudflare—to:
- Enhance their SDKs with new features across multiple programming languages
- Build custom utilities and extensions for complex use cases like structured outputs and tool-calling
- Learn new languages as needed to support evolving technical needs
- Develop AI-powered tools that:
- Automatically configure SDKs for new users
- Translate solutions across languages
- Deliver polished, purpose-built examples and demos
- Write high-quality documentation and contribute to the company’s overall web presence
- Contribute code internally and externally, including:
- Improving SDK code generation for new use cases
- Creating demos and examples to support product launches
Who You Are
- Previously a founder or founding engineer at an AI-driven company with direct user-facing experience
- Technically versatile and curious—comfortable across multiple programming languages and excited to learn more
- Skilled at using AI tools to generate and refine high-quality code
- Deeply empathetic toward developers, from beginners to advanced users
- Strong communicator who can clearly explain technical concepts across formats (docs, demos, tweets, tutorials)
- Fast learner, detail-oriented, and driven to deliver polished, high-quality work
- Passionate about building great developer products and obsessing over the finer details
- Experienced with APIs—both building and consuming
- Bonus: Maintainer or contributor to a well-known open-source project
Location: SF, NYC, or Remote (Pacific Time working hours preferred)
