Basic Function: Responsible for processing castings that require sandblasting, wheelebrating, acid dip, and penetrant. The operator will work with acid and alkaline solutions and will process castings through penetrant operations. Extreme attention to processes and safety requirements necessary with caustic materials. Penetrant trainee position can lead to Level One certification and back-up to Penetrant Level II personnel.
Physical Requirements: Maximum Lift Weight 50 lbs. Maximum Push/Pull Weight 75 lbs. % Of Time Sitting 5% % Of Time Standing 95% Exposed to Severe Weather Conditions: No
Responsibilities: Surface Treat Accurate scanning in and out on jobs and the proper reporting of processed quantities Wear proper safety equipment; keep work area clean and safe at all times Understand customer requirements, our companies internal scrap challenges, rework, customer returns, the impact they have on your job and demonstrate ability to deliver quality & efficient workmanship Review & inspect all material being used, building self-inspection into everything you make/process Complete, date, and sign-off on all routing information Perform job tasks in an efficient manner according to given standards Blast castings until a uniformed appearance has been obtained Remove and blow out grit and sand from castings Process aluminum and magnesium castings through acids to clean, remove and desmutt the soft metals Must always wear PPE gear when processing castings through acids Neutralize and process spent acids and waste water Change and mix acids according to processing specifications Ensure castings have a clean uniform finish after processing Documentation of required tests
Responsibilities: Penetrant Perform above 1-5 steps above with the below tasks Dip magnesium and aluminum sand castings in Penetrant oil Remove oil , dry castings, develop castings Prep developed castings for inspection Under supervision, begin to inspect castings, learning discontinuities, customer specifications, casting pass or fail decision making Report any problems or discrepancies to immediate management

Requirements:
Skills: Basic math skills, ability to read and understand all procedures required to perform assigned tasks. Good communication skills. Must pass Vision test.
Education/Training: On-the-Job training while working under an experienced operator until position certification is achieved. Surface Treat certification within 90 days of employment. After 90 days, coursework and on the job training to achieve Penetrant Level 1 certification.
Experience: NDT classes a plus; surface treat or chemical experience preferred.
