Desktop Support Specialist (User Technology Specialist) - Information Technology Services Department

The City of Phoenix Information Technology Department (ITS) is seeking a Desktop Support Specialist to provide day-to-day support for computer workstation hardware and software. This role is responsible for partnering with multiple technology disciplines within the City to assess, troubleshoot and resolve performance and availability issues within the technology environment, and for ensuring any service or technical issues are being proactively resolved. Responsibilities

Computer workstation installation, imaging, and repair. Account creation and management. Providing Tier 1 and 2 user support. Deploying computer hardware to end users (Desktop, Laptop, Monitors, Docks, etc.). Updating and maintaining an accurate inventory database; initial user onboarding (Account provisioning, granting permissions, etc.). Helping resolve technology issues in person and remotely. Accurate data logging of day-to-day activities. The successful candidate will be expected to become proficient in the support and installation of Microsoft Office 365 applications, GlobalProtect VPN software, and many other applications used by the Departments we support. Is self-motivated and proactive when faced with tasks, issues, and opportunities to expand their technical skills. Demonstrates ability to provide outstanding customer service. Proficient with Microsoft operating systems (10/11) and other MS software products. Possesses excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Exhibits exceptional interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Salary

Salary Range: $29.58 to $48.19 per hour. Hiring Range: $29.58 to $43.71 per hour. Pay range explanations: Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification. Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity. Minimum Qualifications

One year of experience in either: Systems applications analysis, programming or telecommunications functions utilizing a variety of hardware and software or installation and maintenance of digital systems, radio, and electronic communications systems; OR One year of experience in telephone station equipment and related telecommunications distribution systems; OR One year of experience in avionics maintenance. And coursework including training or experience with one or more workstation computers and one or more programming languages and one or more operating systems. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted. All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position. This position is subject to Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) background standards. Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment must be fingerprinted and will have their fingerprints used to check the Criminal History Records of the State of Arizona Department of Public Safety and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Any records returned will be reviewed to determine the candidate's suitability for the job. Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business.
