Overview
Senior Backend Engineer (Golang) to join the Food Core Squad, part of the Ingredient to Product department. This team builds and evolves backend services that transform raw ingredients and recipes into structured, customer-facing products at scale. Services are written in Golang, deployed on Kubernetes, and run in AWS, following an event-driven microservices architecture. You will work in a cross-functional squad with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver reliable, performant, and maintainable solutions that support a critical area of the platform. This role offers the opportunity to tackle complex engineering challenges, improve resiliency and scalability, and directly contribute to systems that connect food production with the global shopping experience. Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Golang as the primary language. Contribute to system architecture and service design in an event-driven microservices environment. Ensure smooth delivery through CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and close collaboration with DevOps. Take ownership of services from development through deployment, monitoring, and optimization. Collaborate with product managers, designers, frontend developers, and data engineers in an Agile environment. Promote engineering best practices (TDD, clean code, design patterns) and mentor peers via code reviews. Participate in incident response and drive improvements in reliability, performance, and observability. Qualifications
Strong proficiency in Golang, with experience building production-grade backend systems. Experience with Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration. Experience with AWS cloud services. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for automated testing, deployment, and monitoring. Experience with event-driven architectures and microservices design; knowledge of Kafka is a plus. Hands-on experience with databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB. Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a cross-functional Agile environment. Nice to have: Kotlin.
