The Environmental Services Tech I is responsible for a variety of environmental services duties to ensure a clean, sanitary, pleasant environment essential for quality care of patients, visitors, and staff. The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of Environmental Services along with having the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates.

This is a full-time position working from 4:00pm-12:30am with rotating weekends.

The individual in this position reports to the Environmental Services Director. This position works closely with all hospital staff and other Environmental Services staff in order to provide a clean, sanitary, pleasant environment.

Specific accountabilities include: cleaning patient rooms, cleaning in all areas of the hospital, picking up garbage, cleaning lighting fixtures, cleaning patient, public, and staff restrooms, cleaning ice machines, and washing sinks, plumbing fixtures, drinking fountains, stainless steel mirrors, furniture, equipment, and casters.

Position qualifications include: a high school diploma or GED, one year of Environmental Services experience preferred, and skills/competencies in reading and writing, following instructions, using cleaning supplies and equipment, using ladders, demonstrating competency on equipment, critical thinking, accountability, and safe judgment.

Physical requirements include: occasional climbing and crawling/kneeling, ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs, frequent walking, sitting/standing, reaching, pushing/pulling, lifting, carrying, bending/stooping/crouching, twisting/turning and repetitive movement, and ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills.
