Charleston, South Carolina Job Description Summary: Under general supervision of the outpatient patient care coordinator team this position reports directly to the lead scheduler and indirectly to the RN supervisor. This position provides administrative support in a variety of functions to an individual, team, department, or other group in Vascular and Interventional Radiology. Responds to, or routes routine inquiries from external or internal sources with standard correspondence. Schedules and coordinates patient appointments, including follow up visits including utilization of MyChart to communicate with patients. Create new EPIC charts, verify insurance eligibility and benefits including assisting with prior authorizations of treatments, and communicates financial responsibilities to patients for scheduled procedures. Review incoming faxes and routes to appropriate VIR provider or direct to appropriate department. Request records, imaging, referrals, upload/nominate OSH imaging to MUSC PACS/Life Image system, send orders to OSH for scheduling. Mails supplies or facilitates patients getting supplies after procedure. Provide the highest level of patient satisfaction by promptly and courteously responding to the needs and requests of patients and visitors. Responds to questions with clear, accurate information about their radiology procedure and aftercare. Has basic word processing, spreadsheet knowhow. Electronic medical records experience specifically EPIC preferred. Performs other support duties as needed by radiologists, and the outpatient team. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors. Frequently lift and/or carry objects weighing 20 lbs (+/-) unassisted. Lift from 36" to overhead 15 lbs. Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.
