Full Sr. Registrar In Outpatient Mental Health Clinic
Saint Joseph's Medical Center is seeking a Full Sr. Registrar in our Outpatient Mental Health Clinic. Will perform a variety of secretarial, clerical, and receptionist duties to support the daily operations of the Mental Health Clinic. This role involves frequent patient interactions and requires professionalism, discretion, and compassion. In addition, will collaborate with clinical and billing teams to ensure accurate coding and documentation. Including supporting the correct use of CPT, ICD-10 codes, and modifiers, reviewing clinical documentation for completeness and monitoring billing denials to improve coding accuracy and optimize reimbursement. Minimum 2-3 years' experience in healthcare or behavioral health setting. Schedule 9:30AM-5:30PM Key Responsibilities:
Administrative & Secretarial Duties: Perform receptionist duties including greeting patients, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and managing intake paperwork. Maintain organized and accurate patient records, ensuring timely filing. Coordinate communication between patients, clinicians, and administrative staff. Assist in managing provider schedules. Process incoming and outgoing correspondence (mail, faxes, emails). Medical Coding & Documentation Support: Liaise with the Revenue Cycle department to provide clinical context and support accurate use of CPT, ICD-10 codes, and modifiers. Collaborate with clinical staff to review and clarify documentation impacting coding, such as missing or updated diagnoses or duplicate visits. Monitor claim denials and remittance advices to identify trends and opportunities for improved documentation and coding accuracy. Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and coding guidelines (e.g., HIPAA, CMS). Education and Qualification Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or vocational training in medical administration or coding preferred. Coding certification preferred but not required. Coding experience required. Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a healthcare or behavioral health setting. Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance processes, and behavioral health documentation standards. Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and modifier usage. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in EMR systems and Microsoft Office. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
