Distribution Center Clerk
City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), the largest community college system in Illinois, is made up of seven colleges and five satellite sites, providing more than 70,000 students each year access to a quality, affordable education. The District's Distribution Center is the central warehouse for CCC, located at Olive-Harvey College's Transportation, Distribution and Logistics (TDL) facility. The Distribution Center procures, receives, and distributes a variety of goods and supplies including cleaning supplies, personal protective equipment, office supplies, toner, salt, and office furniture. The Distribution Center also provides centralized services for all inter-office and outgoing mail. Primary Objective
Reporting to the Supervisor
Distribution, a Distribution Center Clerk performs a variety of mail services, receiving, warehousing, distribution, and clerical duties to provide inter-office and outgoing mail services and deliver supplies and materials to CCC's district office and its seven colleges. Provides exceptional customer service in the performance and delivery of services. Performs related duties as required. Essential Duties
Mail Services
Processes inter-office and outgoing mail for all campuses. Sorts and bundles inter-office mail for delivery to campus facilities. Receives, sorts and scans outgoing mail and packages for tracking purposes. Follows standard procedures and uses appropriate equipment for processing outgoing mailing via U.S. Postal Service (USPS), Federal Express (FedEx), and United Parcel Service (UPS). Operates mail postage meter equipment to calculate USPS postage. Drives a van on routes covering all campuses to pick-up and deliver inter-office and outgoing mail. Requires lifting and moving of mail bags and packages. Responds to inquiries relating to mail services of USPS, Federal Ex and UPS. Receiving, Storage, and Distribution
Receives vendor deliveries, inspecting and verifying accuracy of deliveries of supplies and materials against purchase orders, packing slips and invoices. Unloads delivered supplies and materials from trucks and using dollies and manual and powered pallet jacks to transport from dock to warehouse storage. Stores received supplies and materials in warehouse facility, placing items in appropriate location for ease of identification and retrieval. Fills order requests from campuses for supplies and materials from central warehouse. Pulls items from shelves and transports on dollies and pallet jacks. Operates a forklift to move and transport supplies and materials including large items such as office furniture on warehouse floor. Loads, unloads, and drives vans to campuses to make deliveries. Data enters information on amount of supplies and materials received and distributed using PeopleSoft database to update and maintain inventory records. Inventory and Clerical Support
Maintains records of the receipt and distribution of supplies, materials and equipment received at the Distribution Center, as well as IT equipment, furniture, and other fixed assets at 180 N. LaSalle district office. Affixes asset tags on newly received equipment and furniture to inventory as fixed assets. Conducts perpetual inventory surveys as required for internal auditing purposes. Participates in periodic physical inventories and performs inventory counts in warehouse facility as directed. Troubleshoots and performs routine maintenance on photocopiers; contacts vendors for needed service and repairs. Maintains warehouse facility and related office areas clean and orderly at all times. Adheres to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards. Perform other duties as assigned Reporting Relationships

Graduation from high school or the equivalent, supplemented by one year of clerical or inventory/receiving/distribution work experience Equivalent combination of training and experience provided the education minimum is met Valid State of Illinois driver's license Must obtain certification as a forklift operator within six months of hire Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs on a regular basis Familiarity with computers and ability to perform data entry Excellent customer service skills with ability to communicate with customers in a courteous manner Ability to operate mailroom equipment Ability to use and operate dollies and manual and powered pallet jacks Ability to stand, bend, and move around for extended periods of time during assigned shift Some computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook Salary Range: $49,900.53 - $50,380 Offered salary will be determined by the respective collective bargaining agreement and applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.
