Human Resources Remote Eligible: Hybrid Schedule, 2 Days on Site Overview Company: Sephora The Opportunity: Our HRIS, Analytics, & Shared Services team is on an exciting journey of transformation, introducing powerful new tools, process & system optimizations across HR. This encompasses everything from leveraging data insights and ensuring seamless payroll to strengthening our core operations, with compliance as a cornerstone. We are seeking a Director, HR Compliance and Operations to lead critical Compliance and HR Operations for our US and Canada teams, reporting to the Vice President of HRIS, Analytics, & Shared Services. This role is strategic and hands-on, responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive HR compliance programs (including immigration) and optimizing HR operational processes to align with legal requirements and company standards while driving efficiency and positive employee experience from onboarding through offboarding. Key Responsibilities
HR Compliance & Risk Management: Develop, implement, and maintain robust HR compliance programs, policies, and procedures in alignment with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Monitor changes in employment law and regulations, assess impact on Sephora's HR practices, and recommend adjustments. Conduct HR audits (e.g., I-9, policy adherence) to identify compliance gaps and propose corrective actions. Partner with Legal and Employee Relations on internal HR-related investigations as needed. Develop and deliver compliance training programs for HR teams, managers, and employees. Ensure data privacy and security of employee information and adherence to regulations (e.g., CCPA); manage I-9 compliance and E-Verify processes. Oversee management of HR vendors and contracts (e.g., compliance course providers, I-9 vendors). Leadership & Strategic Partnership
Provide guidance to HR Business Partners, legal counsel, and business leaders on complex HR compliance and operational matters. Collaborate with Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, and Talent Management to align HR Operations strategies and ensure seamless execution. Direct a team of 5 FTEs (Immigration and HR Operations Manager, Immigration Specialist, HR Operations Senior Specialist, and HR Operations Specialists), fostering development and effective management. Drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer service within HR operations. Contribute to strategic HR initiatives and projects from an operational and compliance perspective. Qualifications
10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5+ years in a leadership role focusing on HR compliance, immigration, and/or HR operations. Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple US jurisdictions. Policy Development & Implementation: ability to draft clear, legally compliant HR policies and roll them out organization-wide. Audit Management: experience leading and responding to internal and external audits. Training & Facilitation: ability to develop and deliver effective training programs on HR compliance topics. Negotiation: skilled in negotiating terms with vendors and navigating stakeholder situations. Process Optimization & Automation: analyze operations, identify inefficiencies, and implement improved processes. Attention to Detail, Project Management, and Vendor Management. Experience in U.S. immigration laws, visa types, and processes. Experience developing and implementing HR compliance programs and policies; HR operations experience (SuccessFactors a plus). Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills; ability to influence across diverse stakeholders. High integrity, discretion, and ability to handle highly confidential information. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment. Compensation & Benefits The annual base salary range for this position is $200,855.00 - $224,485.00. Actual base salary depends on qualifications, experience, education, certifications, location, and other business factors. Eligible for bonuses.
