Meet Life Sciences
Overview Meet Life Sciences has been engaged to lead the Chief Operating Officer (COO) search for a Bay Area–based MedTech company specializing in human tissue and bone biologics. Reporting to the CEO and Board of Directors, the COO will lead the company's operational strategy and execution, overseeing biologic manufacturing, quality control, supply chain, and facilities management. In addition to manufacturing operations, the COO will drive excellence in business operations, including process optimization, financial planning, and organizational efficiency.
Operational Leadership
Oversee business operations, identifying opportunities to streamline processes and improve organizational efficiency. Develop and implement operational plans that align with company objectives and timelines. Lead P&L management efforts to ensure financial accountability. Establish business continuity plans to minimize disruptions and maintain production and financial stability. Strategic Growth and Planning
Partner with the CEO and executive team to define operational strategies that support company growth and long-term vision. Identify industry trends, risks, and opportunities to keep operations competitive and innovative. Support corporate development initiatives by conducting operational due diligence on potential mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships. Operational Excellence
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes, eliminate inefficiencies, and improve productivity. Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operational accountability and performance. Leadership
Build, mentor, and retain high-performing teams across operations and business functions. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and safety. Promote professional development and succession planning to ensure organizational strength. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, life sciences, business, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, MS, PhD) preferred. Minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience in biologic manufacturing, pharmaceutical operations, or life sciences. Proven experience scaling operations, leading facility build-outs, and managing complex manufacturing and business projects. Expertise in business operations, financial planning, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence methodologies. Strong financial and analytical acumen with experience managing budgets, KPIs, and operational efficiency. Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Core Competencies
