Position : Director of Business Development – Healthcare (national healthcare market). You will help empower clients to achieve energy-efficient building solutions, drive medical research, and support lifesaving care environments that contribute to a healthier, more sustainable future. Here’s Why We Need You: AEI’s Director of Business Development – Healthcare leads activities that cultivate and sustain national relationships with academic medical centers, health systems, and specialty care providers. The role drives strategic office growth, strengthens AEI’s national market presence, and collaborates with principals, market leaders, marketing team members, and peer business development directors to generate and track qualified project leads, develop collateral and proposals, and support project interviews when needed. Primary Accountabilities And Responsibilities The following functions are typical and not all-encompassing. Develop and implement a comprehensive healthcare business development plan aligned with AEI’s objectives to expand visibility and market share. Identify new business opportunities, market trends, and client needs through market research, industry analysis, and client engagement. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop customized qualifications and proposals that meet client requirements and market demands. Build and maintain relationships with coworkers, marketing staff, healthcare market leaders, principals, and peer directors. Build and maintain relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders to drive new opportunities and foster long-term partnerships. Lead or support pursuits of significance and support negotiation and tracking of national MSAs, IDIQ contracts for planning, design, and commissioning projects. Advance a system-wide business development perspective through collaboration and joint development of project pursuits. Provide leadership and guidance to the marketing team, fostering excellence, innovation, and collaboration. Monitor and analyze KPIs and market trends to assess performance and drive continuous improvement. Represent the company at industry events to enhance brand visibility and expand the network. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business administration, or related technical field. Extensive experience in business development or consulting engineering. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across offices and levels. Strategic thinker with analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to translate market insights into actionable strategies. Proven leadership of high-performing teams and a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Proficiency in marketing tools and technologies (Microsoft Office, Deltek VantagePoint, OpenAsset). Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in engineering, construction management, business administration, or related field. Strong understanding of the consulting engineering industry, market dynamics, trends, and clients. Other Knowledge And Skills Desired Commitment to networking in professional societies (e.g., ASHE, Health Facility Institute, AMFP, ACHE, DBIA, Lean Construction Institute). Commitment to continuous learning and quick absorption of information about markets and services. Polished writing and presentation skills; ability to extract client needs to inform proposals and presentations. Ability to quickly build rapport and earn trust of management, peers, and technical staff.
