Job Details Responsibilities:
1. Provide legal advice and representation to tribal governments on matters related to natural resources, environmental law, and tribal sovereignty. 2. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, leases, and other legal documents related to natural resources and tribal law. 3. Represent tribal clients in administrative proceedings, litigation, and negotiations. 4. Ensure regulatory compliance with tribal, federal, state, and local laws and regulations. 5. Conduct legal research and analysis on complex issues related to tribal law, natural resources, and environmental law. 6. Collaborate with tribal leaders, city councils, and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective legal strategies. 7. Participate in tribal consultation processes and engage in effective communication and relationship building with tribal communities. 8. Provide training and education to tribal communities on legal issues related to natural resources and tribal law.
Qualifications:
1. Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. 2. Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in tribal law, natural resources law, or a related field. 3. Must be an active member in good standing with a state bar. 4. Demonstrated experience in regulatory compliance and legal writing. 5. Proven experience working with tribal governments, city councils, or similar bodies. 6. Strong understanding of tribal sovereignty, tribal consultation processes, and the unique legal issues facing tribal communities. 7. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with tribal leaders, community members, and other stakeholders. 8. Strong negotiation skills with the ability to advocate effectively for tribal clients. 9. Excellent research and analytical skills with the ability to handle complex legal issues. 10. Strong commitment to serving tribal communities and protecting tribal sovereignty and natural resources.
