Job Details We are seeking an experienced Corporate Counsel to join our legal team, with a primary focus on employment-related litigation. This role will manage disputes, guide business leaders on employment matters, and oversee outside counsel to ensure efficient resolution of legal challenges. The ideal candidate has a strong litigation background, is proactive, and brings practical, solutions-oriented advice to a fast-moving corporate environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead management of employment disputes, including attorney demands, administrative agency charges, and lawsuits in state or federal court. Develop strategies to resolve matters efficiently while managing outside counsel budgets and reporting litigation risks internally.

Focus primarily on employment-related litigation, while also supporting non-employment disputes, such as commercial, regulatory, and environmental, health, and safety matters.

Advise HR and management on day-to-day employment issues, including leaves of absence, reasonable accommodations, wage and hour matters, terminations/discipline, employee relations, and workplace investigations.

Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local employment laws, ensuring company policies and practices remain compliant with legislative changes.

Develop and deliver training for HR and management on employment law topics.

Collaborate with HR and business leaders to develop best practices, provide strategic guidance, and assist with employment law compliance projects.

Qualifications:

J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the relevant state bar, or eligibility to practice as registered in-house counsel.

6+ years of employment law experience with substantial litigation experience in private practice and/or a large corporate organization.

In-depth knowledge of employment laws, including discrimination, employee leave, and related compliance obligations under federal, state, and local law.

Strong legal analysis, reasoning, and writing skills; ability to quickly integrate facts and law to make sound decisions under tight deadlines.

Exceptional oral and written communication skills; ability to present complex legal issues clearly and persuasively.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting, build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, and exercise sound judgment to protect company interests.

Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities, demonstrating agility, ownership, and a proactive mindset.

Willingness to travel as needed.

Preferred / Additional Experience:

Experience with labor law, including union campaigns, collective bargaining, OSHA, or Workers’ Compensation.
