Laurel Street is a mixed-income residential development company committed to delivering high-quality housing for working families and seniors across all income levels. With a growing portfolio of approximately 6,000 units, Laurel Street is an entrepreneurial organization focused on impactful development. The Director of Finance and Accounting will oversee all financial and accounting functions across corporate, project, and property sectors. This role provides strategic financial insight to senior leadership, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports budgeting, reporting, and treasury operations. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in financial planning, fund management, and affordable housing development. Key Responsibilities
Examples of job responsibilities are intended as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. Accounting Oversee daily accounting operations across corporate and project accounting. Collaborate with the Director of Property Accounting on accounting activity, cash and intercompany transactions Develop and maintain corporate projection models for Development, Asset Management, Construction Management, and Property Management departments. Track pre-development funding sources and manage funding requests from predevelopment lenders or equity investors Maintain guarantor reporting, including control lists and schedules. Manage capital calls and distributions for LSR Funds Assist in preparing annual budgets and multi-year financial projections expected project capital needs s Provide analytics for major corporate transactions. Support SVP of Finance with audits, tax returns, e-file forms, and investor submissions. Coordinate intercompany billing, reconciliation, and tracking. Prepare quarterly liquidity reports and budget variance analyses. Administer accounting systems (4CP, NetSuite, RealPage), including licensing and management. Treasury Collaborate with SVP of Finance to develop and maintain treasury policies and procedures. Serve as primary contact for treasury-related inquiries and issue resolution. Manage online banking operations, account summaries, and reconciliation processes. Maintain cash schedules, oversee daily cash balances, and approve weekly check runs. Review and approve cash transactions, funding requests, and wire instructions.
Education/Experience
and Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
CPA or master's degree in accounting or finance related, or a comparable combination of ten education and ten plus years' experience is preferred Accounting experience in the real estate development field is preferred Strong analytical, financial, and system skills with exceptional attention to detail Experience with forecasting, financial planning and analysis is preferred Advanced spreadsheet and modeling skills Experience with accounting controls and relevant accounting standards is required Strong financial reporting and analytic skills will be valuable Excellent interpersonal skills and written/verbal communication skills
