Aegis Manufacturing & Engineering
Aerospace Precision Quality Assurance Inspector
Aegis Manufacturing & Engineering, Harwood Heights, Illinois, United States, 60706
Job Description
Job Description Make Every Ten-Thousandth Count
Confidential Precision Manufacturer | Harwood Heights/Norridge, IL For more than 70 years, our team has built highly engineered, mission-critical components used around the globe in aerospace and industrial applications. We are adding an experienced Quality Inspector to our first-shift operation to ensure every machined part meets stringent aerospace quality standards. If you thrive in a hands-on machine shop environment and take pride in precision measurement and calibration, this is where your craft will be valued. What Your Day Looks Like You arrive to the hum of the shop floor, review the morning run, and begin in-process checks on precision-machined parts. You verify dimensions down to 0.0001" using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators, and profilometers. You read blueprints and apply GD&T (including flatness, perpendicularity, and parallelism) to confirm features. Throughout the day, you document results by hand for complete traceability, coordinate gauge calibration schedules with outside providers, and partner closely with machinists, assemblers, and engineers to resolve issues before they become defects. By final inspection, you know each part leaving your station will perform exactly as designed. What You Will Do
Execute in-process, final, and incoming inspections on precision-machined components. Measure with precision tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators, profilometers) to 0.0001". Interpret blueprints; apply GD&T principles (flatness, perpendicularity, parallelism) in evaluation. Record inspection outcomes manually, ensuring full and accurate traceability. Oversee and coordinate the gauge calibration program, including scheduling with external calibration providers. Collaborate with machinists, assemblers, and engineers to investigate and resolve quality concerns. What You Bring
High school diploma or GED (verification required). 2+ years of quality inspection experience within a precision machining environment. Proficiency with precision measurement techniques and calibration processes. Strong hand-written documentation skills and attention to detail. Self-directed, motivated, and receptive to coaching. Nice to Have
