Job Description

As a Unarmed Security Guard - Access Control in Tampa, FL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education and more. As an Access Control Officer with Allied Universal at an educational location, you will help create a secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. Your responsibilities will include monitoring entrances and exits, verifying credentials, and conducting routine patrols throughout the campus. By maintaining a visible presence, you help deter security-related incidents and foster a welcoming atmosphere. You will also provide exceptional customer service, responding promptly to inquiries and assisting those on site.   • Job Schedule: Day shifts
  • Mon 07:00 AM - 03:00 PM
  • Tue 07:00 AM - 03:00 PM
  • Fri 07:00 AM - 03:00 PM
  • Sat 07:00 AM - 03:00 PM
  • Sun 07:00 AM - 03:00 PM

What You’ll Do

  • Use our proprietary scheduling platform to claim open shifts at client sites
  • Support operations across environments including commercial real estate, healthcare, and education
  • Receive site-specific training and guidance from experienced teams
  • Deliver a consistent, professional security presence and customer service
  • Be ready to fill in at short notice when urgent needs arise

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service by carrying out security-related procedures, following site-specific policies, and responding to emergency situations as needed.
  • Manage access control at the location, verifying credentials and granting or denying entry to authorized individuals.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and other designated areas to deter unauthorized access and suspicious activity.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations calmly, escalating issues according to protocol.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols to deter unwanted activity and identify potential security concerns.
  • Maintain accurate logs of all security-related activities, incidents, and observations during the shift.
  • Communicate professionally with staff, visitors, and students, providing assistance as required.
  • Work with Allied Universal team members and site personnel to uphold security standards and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • A Guard Card is preferred
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only
