Referral Specialist - Full Time

About The Job:
The Clinic Referral Specialist facilitates, prior authorizes, and schedules patients for appointments, referrals, tests, and procedures. The Clinic Referral Specialist is responsible for receiving and reviewing referral orders, contacting insurance companies to verify prior approval, appropriately handling phone calls which may include entry into the EHR message center, validating insurance eligibility, entering demographics, insurance, and other pertinent information into the clinic and hospital patient accounting systems. Coordinating care with patients, providers care team and insurance companies.
The Shift:
40 hours per week (1.0 FTE)
Hours:
Works Monday through Saturday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Pay : $18.06, increases with experience.
Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
Ability to present BLS Certification within the first 60 days of hire.
Ability to complete Mandatory Reporting for both Dependent and Child within the first 6 months of hire.
Experience:
Six months of office or customer service experience required, preferably in a medical office setting. OR completion of an Administrative Assistant Diploma
Computer experience preferred.
Special Skills and Competencies:
Typing speed of 35 words per minute preferred
Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact diplomatically and to maintain a professional demeanor with physicians, the public and hospital staff at all times.
Ability to discuss personal and financial matters with patients and families.

Mitchell County Regional Health Center is in Osage, Iowa located in Mitchell County, which has a population of 10,600 people. MCRHC is a 25-bed critical access hospital, including a Level 4 Trauma Center Emergency Room seeing 3,200 visits annually. The Surgical Services department performs over 1,300 procedures annually, including specialties General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Urology, Ophthalmology, Pain management, and Podiatry.
