Job Title: Director Gene Therapy Drug Discovery Biologist Reports to (title): Senior Director, Molecular Therapeutics-Scientific Lead Solid Summary: Solid Biosciences is a life science company focused on advancing a portfolio of neuromuscular and cardiac programs, including SGT-003, a differentiated gene therapy candidate for the treatment of Duchenne, SGT-401, a gene therapy program for the treatment of BAG3 mediated dilated cardiomyopathy, SGT-212, a gene therapy program for the treatment of Friedreichs Ataxia, and additional assets for the treatment of fatal cardiac diseases. Solid aims to be the center of excellence across a given disease spectrum bringing together those with expertise in science, technology, disease management, and care. Patient-focused and founded by those directly impacted, Solids mandate is to improve the daily lives of patients living with these devastating diseases. Position Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated PhD scientist to join the Molecular Therapeutics team to select our lead therapeutics. The ideal candidate will have a strong scientific background in human iPSC biology, in vivo biodistribution studies (small and large animal), protein science, molecular biology, and quantitative imaging techniques. Responsibilities Contribute to both the inception and selection of AAV libraries Optimize in vitro and in vivo models to select lead therapeutics for translation to humans Lead a scientific team to quantitatively compare VG, mRNA, and protein levels Detailed understanding of antibody and FISH imaging techniques to quantify biodistribution and expression levels Collaborate within the MTx Department and across the R&D organization to incorporate selected therapies into the Discovery & Translational Development pipeline Manage projects with outside partners from inception to completion Communicate findings and insights to stakeholders through presentations, patents, publications, and scientific conferences
Core Competencies
Strong track record in experimental design, molecular genetics and cellular biology, statistics, protein science, and imaging Leadership experience in a biotechnology/pharmaceutical company focusing on biologics drug discovery Proficiency in computing include Geneious, Endnote, BLAST, Ensembl, NCBI, Uniprot, UCSC, GTEx, Microsoft, PRISM statistics program, Benchling Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively Excellent communication and presentation skills
Knowledge, Education, Experience & Skills
PhD in physiology/pharmacology, post-doctorate in vector biology, with >3 years industry experience leading laboratory scientists Travel & Location
