About the Role
As
Strategic Sourcing Manager , you'll be a key player in shaping the company's procurement strategy. You'll lead efforts to identify and onboard best-cost suppliers, manage vendor relationships, and drive cost savings across direct material categories. This is a
high-impact, hybrid role
offering flexibility and visibility across the organization. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams-including engineering, operations, quality, and finance-to align sourcing decisions with product development, manufacturing needs, and business goals. Your work will directly influence product cost, supplier performance, and supply chain agility.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Supplier Management Evaluate, select, and onboard suppliers for raw materials such as
steel, metals, plastics , and other direct components. Negotiate
master supply agreements , long-term contracts, and pricing structures. Conduct
quarterly business reviews
with key suppliers to assess performance and drive continuous improvement. Sourcing Strategy & Category Management Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned categories, balancing cost, quality, and risk. Lead
supplier consolidation initiatives
to streamline the supply base and improve leverage. Monitor market trends and proactively identify new sourcing opportunities. Cost Reduction & Value Creation Achieve annual
cost savings targets
through strategic sourcing, value engineering, and supplier collaboration. Partner with finance to track savings and ensure alignment with budget goals. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work with engineering to reduce
SKU complexity , standardize drawings, and support design-for-manufacturing initiatives. Collaborate with operations and quality to ensure supplier compliance and readiness. Maintain and update ERP systems with accurate sourcing data and supplier information. Process Optimization & Risk Management Identify and implement
process improvements
to enhance sourcing efficiency and supplier performance. Support
risk mitigation
strategies, including dual sourcing and supplier diversification. Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field. 5-10+ years of experience
in strategic sourcing or procurement within a
manufacturing environment . Strong background in sourcing
raw/direct materials
(e.g., metals, plastics, steel). Experience with
category management , supplier onboarding, and contract negotiation. Proven track record in
cost savings initiatives
and supplier consolidation. Proficiency in
ERP systems
(SAP preferred) and data-driven decision-making. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and project leadership skills.
